Verbos frasales de tres partes: put up with, get away with, look forward to
Estructura: verbo + partícula + preposición + objeto Los tres verbos clave de esta lección: | Verbo | Significado | Ejemplo | |---|---|---| | put up with | tolerar, aguantar | *We cannot put up with these delays.* | | get away with | salirse con la suya, evitar el castigo | *He got away with missing the deadline.* | | look forward to | esperar con interés | *The expert looks forward to reviewing the proposal.* | Regla de oro: el objeto va después de la preposición. Decimos *put up with the delays*, no *put the delays up with*. *Put up with* expresa tolerancia ante condiciones difíciles; *get away with* describe evitar consecuencias; *look forward to* muestra anticipación positiva hacia un acuerdo o reunión futura.
| Verbo | Significado | Ejemplo con objeto |
|---|---|---|
| put up with | tolerar | We put up with the delays. |
| get away with | evitar castigo | He got away with the mistake. |
| look forward to | esperar con interés | I look forward to the meeting. |
We cannot put up with these delays anymore; we must meet the deadlines or we will lose the contract.
The expert looks forward to reviewing the proposal, but first we need to strike a balance on the budget.
En verbos de tres partes, el objeto nunca se separa: *put up with the delays* ✓, *put the delays up with* ✗.
Después de *look forward to*, usa gerundio (-ing). La *to* aquí es preposición, no parte de infinitivo: *look forward to meeting* ✓, *look forward to meet* ✗.
No confundas *get away with* (evitar castigo) con *get away from* (escapar de un lugar). *He got away with the mistake* = no tuvo consecuencias; *He got away from the office* = se fue del lugar.
