Clarifying What Was Said
¿Qué vas a lograr?
• Original: "What did she ask?"
• Parafraseada: "She asked whether the report was ready."
• Confirmación: "Did I understand that correctly?"

What did you mean?" sino "what you meant".
Truco para el "if/whether"
Para preguntas de sí/no, usa if o whether al reportar: "She asked if the tone was clear".
Enfoque gramaticalReported Questions: Wh- And Yes/No
Preguntas wh- (what, where, why, how...)
• *"Why did she leave?"* → She asked why she left.
• *"Where is the meeting?"* → He wondered where the meeting was.
Preguntas sí/no
Usamos whether o if (si) para introducir la pregunta reportada:
• *"Did you hear the news?"* → She asked whether I heard the news.
• *"Is the report accurate?"* → He asked if the report was accurate.
Reglas clave:
2. Sin auxiliar do/does/did en preguntas wh- reportadas.
Verbos introductores útiles: ask, wonder, explain, point out. Con explain y point out a menudo añadimos *why* o *whether* para aclarar la intención del hablante.
Tipo
Directa
Reportada
Wh-
"Why did she leave?"
She asked why she left.
Wh-
"Where is the meeting?"
He wondered where the meeting was.
Yes/No
"Did you hear the news?"
She asked whether I heard the news.
Yes/No
"Is the report accurate?"
He asked if the report was accurate.
She asked whether the report was accurate, and I clarified that the data came from a reliable source.
He wondered if the tone of the email might cause a misunderstanding, so he asked for help to rephrase it.Se preguntó si el tono del correo podría causar un malentendido, así que pidió ayuda para reformularlo.
Decimos She asked where the meeting was, NO She asked where was the meeting.
Whether vs if: ambos significan "si" para preguntas sí/no.
No uses auxiliares: en preguntas wh- reportadas, eliminamos do/does/did. Decimos He asked why she left, NO He asked why did she leave.
