EXPLICACIÓN
Teoría y puntos clave
Reported questions: el truco del 'if'
Cuando el doctor te hace una pregunta de sí/no, en inglés la reportas con if: *He asked me if I felt pain*. Ojo: el orden cambia, ya no es pregunta (*Did I feel pain?*), sino afirmación (*I felt pain*). Para preguntas con *where*, *when*, *why*, usas la misma palabra: *He asked me where the pain was*.
Errores comunes
• No digas *He asked me if did I feel pain*. Después de *if* va el orden normal: *if I felt pain*.
• *Get over* significa recuperarse: *I got over the surgery in two weeks*. Es un phrasal verb, no lo separes.
Enfoque gramaticalReported Questions: He Asked Me If, He Asked Me Where
GRAMÁTICA
Preguntas reportadas: he asked me if, he asked me where
Reported questions: he asked me if, he asked me whereSubject + asked me + (if / question word) + subject + verb (past perfect)
• *He asked me if I had been to the surgery.* → Él me preguntó si había ido a la consulta.
Para preguntas con *wh-* (where, when, why...), mantenemos la palabra interrogativa:
• *He asked me where I had wounded my arm.* → Él me preguntó dónde me había herido el brazo.
Estructura general:
• *Subject + asked me + if + subject + verb (past perfect)*
• *Subject + asked me + question word + subject + verb (past perfect)*
Pregunta directa
Pregunta reportada
Yes/No
Did you go to the surgery?
He asked me if I had gone to the surgery.
Wh-
Where did you wound your arm?
He asked me where I had wounded my arm.
Yes/No
Did you get over the flu?
He asked me if I had got over the flu.
Wh-
How long was it bleeding?
He asked me how long it had been bleeding.
The doctor asked me if I had been to the surgery before my appointment.
He asked me where I had wounded my arm and how long it had been bleeding.Él me preguntó dónde me había herido el brazo y cuánto tiempo había estado sangrando.
Por ejemplo: *Did you get over the flu?* → *He asked me if I had got over the flu.*
Decimos *He asked me where I had wounded my arm*, NO *He asked me where had I wounded my arm*.
No uses *do/does/did* en la pregunta reportada. La estructura ya no es interrogativa: *He asked me if I had been to the surgery*, NO *He asked me if did I go to the surgery*.
