Para el pasado usa siempre had + participio: *"I wish I hadn't gone"* (ojalá no hubiera ido). Errores comunes y trucos • No uses "would" en estas frases: *"I wish I would have known"* es incorrecto. Lo correcto es *"I wish I had known"*. • Contrae para sonar natural: *"I wish I'd known"* suena mucho más fluido en conversación. • Conecta con tus historias: piensa en una película que te haya overwhelmed (abrumado) o un personaje que no pudiste put up with (soportar). Ahora imagina: *"I wish I had left the cinema earlier"*. ¡Eso es B2 real!

GRAMÁTICA

Ojalá + pasado perfecto para expresar arrepentimiento

Wish + Past Perfect for RegretSubject + wish + subject + had + past participle

Estructura: I wish + subject + had + past participle Ejemplos: • I wish the story had ended differently. • She wishes she hadn't read that spoiler. • Usamos had + participio pasado para TODAS las personas (I, you, he, she, it, we, they).

PronombreAfirmativoNegativo
II wish I had read the book.I wish I hadn't read the book.
YouYou wish you had seen the movie. You wish you hadn't seen the movie.
He/She/ItHe wishes he had finished the series. She wishes she hadn't watched the ending.
WeWe wish we had understood the plot.We wish we hadn't missed the beginning.
TheyThey wish they had read the reviews. They wish they hadn't ignored the warnings.

I wish the story had ended differently; the ending felt too sudden and left me confused.

My friend said she wished she hadn't watched that violent movie; it overwhelmed her with anger.

Error común: No uses wish + would have + participio. La forma correcta es wish + had + participio. ✗ I wish I would have read it. → ✓ I wish I had read it.
✗ I wish I hadn't watched. → ✓ I wish I hadn't watched it. No olvides el objeto directo.
