CONTEXTO

Aprende dentro de una situación real

¡Bienvenido/a! • Transmitir peticiones u órdenes con *told me to* o *asked me to*.

- Directa: *"Are you ready?"* - Reportada: *She asked if I was ready.* • Preguntas con Wh-: Conserva la palabra interrogativa (*where, what, why*), pero cambia el orden a sujeto + verbo. - Directa: *"Where do you live?"* - Reportada: *He asked where I lived.* Línea de tiempo y pareja mínima Si ayer alguien preguntó *"Are you ready today?"*, al contarlo más tarde decimos *She asked if I was ready that day.* El backshift cambia am → was y la referencia temporal today → that day. Di *"They informed us that..."* en lugar de *"They informed that..."*. • Para un aviso público, es natural usar una expresión nominal como *"The station made an announcement."*; inform se usa para comunicar datos a una persona o grupo específico.

Enfoque gramaticalReported Yes/No And Wh-Questions, Plus Reported Requests With To-Infinitive.
GRAMÁTICA

Estilo indirecto: preguntas y peticiones

Reported questions and requestsSubject + asked/told + (if / whether / wh-word / to-infinitive) + clause; backshift tense and time references when needed

Para reportar lo que alguien preguntó o pidió en el pasado, adaptamos la estructura según el tipo de oración: • Preguntas de Sí/No (Yes/No questions): Usamos asked if o asked whether seguidos de orden afirmativo (Sujeto + Verbo), sin auxiliares como *do/did*. • Preguntas abiertas (Wh- questions): Usamos asked where, *asked what*, etc., manteniendo el orden declarativo sin invertir sujeto y verbo. • Peticiones u órdenes (Requests): Usamos told me to (o *asked me to*) seguido del verbo en infinitivo con *to*. Línea de tiempo: ayer: *“Are you ready today?”* → más tarde: *She asked if I was ready that day.* La pareja mínima es am → was y today → that day; si la situación sigue vigente, también es posible *She asked if I am ready.* En el contexto del periodismo y los medios, estas estructuras permiten transmitir información clara sobre entrevistas, preguntas e instrucciones recibidas.

Tipo de oraciónVerbo / ConectorEstructura posteriorEjemplo
Pregunta Yes/Noasked if / whetherSujeto + VerboShe asked if I saw the news.
Pregunta Wh-asked where / whatSujeto + VerboShe asked where the meeting was.
Petición / Ordentold / asked + objetoto + InfinitivoHe told me to inform the team.
Backshift y tiempoasked ifam → was; today → that dayDirect: ‘Are you ready today?’ → She asked if I was ready that day.

The reporter asked if I saw the news before the company sent the project details.

The manager told me to inform the team after she asked where the meeting was.

Di *'She asked where the meeting was'*, no *'She asked where was the meeting'*.
Línea de tiempo: si ayer alguien preguntó *“Are you ready today?”*, al contarlo más tarde decimos *She asked if I was ready that day.* La pareja mínima muestra el backshift am → was y el cambio today → that day.
