CONTEXTO

¿Qué vas a lograr? • Preguntar cuánto cuesta algo: *How much is it?* • Decir que estás buscando algo: *I am looking for...* • Decidir comprarlo: *I will take it.* Todo esto en situaciones simples y naturales, como en una tienda o un mercado. ¡Vamos a practicar!

EXPLICACIÓN

Teoría y puntos clave

El truco de "How much is it?" Para preguntar el precio de una prenda, usa How much is it? (¿Cuánto cuesta?). Es una pregunta fija: no cambia el orden de las palabras. Si hablas de varias prendas, di How much are they?. Recuerda: en inglés no se dice "How much costs?" — el verbo be (is/are) hace el trabajo. Errores comunes al comprar • "I looking for" → siempre con am: *I am looking for a shirt.* • "It is cheap?" → para preguntar, invierte: *Is it cheap?* • Size significa talla, no tamaño general. Para decir "talla M", usa *size M*. • En el mercado (market) o la tienda (store), try on es probarse la ropa. ¡Úsalo antes de comprar!

GRAMÁTICA

Preguntas con How much + be

Questions with How much + beHow much + be + subject?

Para preguntar el precio de algo, usamos How much + el verbo be. La estructura es simple: • How much + is + it? → ¿Cuánto cuesta? • How much + is + this/that + [sustantivo]? → ¿Cuánto cuesta este/ese [sustantivo]? Ejemplos: • How much is this shirt? → ¿Cuánto cuesta esta camisa? • How much is it? → ¿Cuánto cuesta? Importante: En inglés, How much es fijo. No cambia con el sustantivo. Usamos is para singular (it, this, that) y are para plural (they, these, those). Con be, la respuesta corta es: It's [precio]. o It's [adjetivo].
