EXPLICACIÓN
Teoría y puntos clave
There is / There are: la clave de la ciudad
Usa there is para UNA cosa (singular) y there are para VARIAS (plural). Piensa en español: "hay" sirve para ambos, pero en inglés debes elegir. Ejemplo: *There is a museum* (hay un museo) vs. *There are two cinemas* (hay dos cines).
Pregunta con Is there...?
Para preguntar si algo existe cerca, usa Is there...? al inicio: *Is there a bank near here?* (¿Hay un banco cerca de aquí?). La respuesta corta es *Yes, there is* o *No, there isn't*. Recuerda: en preguntas, el verbo va PRIMERO, igual que en español con "¿Hay...?".
Enfoque gramaticalThere Is/There Are: Affirmative Descriptions And Questions (Is There ...?)
GRAMÁTICA
There is / There are: describir lugares y preguntar
There is / There are: Describing Places and Asking QuestionsThere is + singular noun / There are + plural noun / Is there + singular noun + ...?
Usamos there is para una cosa y there are para varias. Es la forma de decir que algo existe en un lugar.
• There is + una cosa: There is a museum.
• There are + varias cosas: There are two parks.
Para preguntar si algo existe, usamos Is there...? con una cosa y Are there...? con varias:
• Is there a cafe near here? (¿Hay un café cerca de aquí?)
• Are there any cinemas? (¿Hay cines?)
En las respuestas cortas: Yes, there is. / No, there isn't.
